Re: Downtime Yesterday

Postby coleslaw » Sun Mar 15, 2009 9:21 am

I'm not sure if this issue affected everyone yesterday, but it seems that the site was inaccessible for the majority of the day yesterday.

I have an uptime tracker that reported the following at 1:21AM Sunday:

The system confirmed 37 failed checks at 30 minute intervals starting at March 14, 2009 06:52:48

Alert Type: Site is Available
Result: Ok
Time: March 15, 2009 01:21:04
HostName/URL: porchtalk.com
Monitor Name: Porch Talk
Service: http

I had filed a support ticket with our host last night at around midnight when I got home, with a reply coming at 1:45AM:

Hi,

I checked domain "porchtalk.com" is loading and resolving fine from here. If domain is not loading at your end then please clear your local DNS cache by running following command in the Windows Command Prompt:

ipconfig /flushdns

Also please request your ISP to clear their DNS cache too so that the new DNS information propagates at your end.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Regards,
Awais

Just an FYI. It sure is a coincidence that the site came back up at roughly the same time the reply from the tech support came through.

well, I couldn't get here, but had no problems with other sites.
So, yeah, it must have been porchtalk.com that had the problem.

thanks for the update.

Was the porch down today or was it just me?
